Namesake

Aelwynn smiled, "They are the words of your people. Your blood remembers them, even when you do not. We are Yaaraerea, and our blood is one of knowing."

Eloen grins like a child rediscovering an old toy. "How long it has been...I'd almost forgotten..."

Aelwynn nodded, "Such is the danger of our long lives. There is so much we learn, and so much that is easily forgotten. The other races are like children; new to this place and struggling to bend it to their will. For their sake, we must not forget. There may come a time when our knowledge is needed."

Eloen bows her head. "Yes, sister. You speak the truth..."

Aelwynn nodded, "I wish it were not so. I have seen much in my time, and nothing to refute that statement."

Eloen goes silent, looking around the tunnels. Her body twists and bends whenever she steps into the shadows, reforming the moment light touches her. She sighs softly.

Aelwynn looked to Eloen, "Why so silent, arwen en amin? Amin hiraetha, if my speech tires you. It has been a century since I last locked eyes with another living thing."

((Amin hiraetha- I'm sorry))

She shakes her head. "I find it all so disheartening. You're the first of our kind I've met since I left this place...Is our time passed, Sister?"

Aelwynn sighed, "I fear it may be. Though your presence here gives me hope that there are indeed others. If you have survived without the protection of the catacombs, surely there are others."

Eloen smiles. "I pray, sister. Perhaps we are not as alone as we believe..."

Aelwynn smiled, "I should hope as much." the approached a large chamber with a reflecting pool, "The entrance is hidden. As your birthright, you must be the one to find it."

She nods, starting to walks around the room. Her eyes settle on the reflecting pool. She looks to Aelwynn. "May I enter it?"

Aelwynn nodded, "You may."

Eloen removes her shoes, stepping into the reflecting pool. She slowly walks through it, eyes closed. She feels something under foot and she stops. "I think...it's here...."

Aelwynn nodded, "Try, and see."

Eloen steps out of the pool, stripping down the her underclothes. She walks back into the pool, kneeling down in the water. He hands run of the patch and her pulls lightly on it. The pool drains out, leaving a hatch full of water in the center. She looks back to Aelwynn. "Let's pray I can hold my breath long enough, no?"

Aelwynn nodded, "I cannot follow. You must continue on your own from here. Aa' menle nauva calen ar' ta hwesta e' ale'quenle."

Eloen nods, stepping into the puddle. She sinks below the surface, starting to swim, following the tunnel.
She finds a small pocket of air, refilling her lungs before continuing. After several minutes of swimming, she surfaces in a large room. Treasure litters the ground, though Eloen shows no interest in it. She's more interested in the items on the pedestal. A sword, single-edged, about four feet long not counting the hilt. Eloen slowly approaches, pulling the blade off the pedestal. She unsheathes it and a sense of rightness comes over her. The blade seems to conform to her grip. This is what she came for.

There was a sparking noise and a rune on the pedestal lit up. The ground beneath her started to feel hot, and the gold on the floor turned red from the heat rising.

Eloen cursed. She'd known there would be traps. Another piece of treasure catches her eye, and she quickly rushes towards it. A set of armor, modeled after some bird of prey. She wasted not time, easily slipping into the armor and making for the underwater passage.

OOC: I'm assuming it's like a leather tunic. Anything metal would take time to buckle into, and make swimming back up nigh impossible.

OOC: Of course. Why would a shadowdancer where plated armor?

OOC: It would make far too much noise. Just making sure.

The underwater passage started to slowly seal closed.

Eloen dove for the closing hatch, hoping to make to make it through.

She barely made it through, and the heat was making bubbles in the water. If she didn't make it to the top soon, it would boil her alive.
