Namesake

Eloen steps over a pit of debris, entering the ruins of the castle. She turned her gaze up as she passed under the arch that held the ruined portcullis. Time had rusted the iron bars, but as she touched it she could vividly remember the last time she was here. The sights, the smells... She shook her head vigorously. This was no time to reminisce. She was here for a reason, a need. She was here to claim what was hers. Her namesake.

Aelwynn felt a shift in the winds as she knelt at the alter hidden beneath Arcem. She stood, for the first time in a long time, and buckled herself into her armor. Her god called her, and she would answer.

Eloen stuck to the shadows, the place where she felt most comfortable. This was her home, regardless of what others said. She just had to find the entrance to the catacombs. Then the real journey would begin....

Aelwynn held her hand to the door of the catacombs, light shining from her palm. This would deactivate the traps. She made sure her great sword was strapped to her back, then pulled her cloak over her shoulders and pulled up the hood. Though she knew it did little good. Standing at seven feet tall, she would be hard to miss even without her armor, which the cloak did well to hide. She stepped out into the sun. Albiorix smiled upon her this day.

Eloen practically walked right into Aelwynn, immediately rolling backwards. She'd lost her knives long ago, so she would have to rely on hand to hand combat. She'd regret that for sure. "Peace, sister. I mean no quarrel...."

"Sister..." She repeated the word, almost in shock. It had been a century since she had last seen an elf, and suddenly one appeared at her door. Albiorix smiled indeed. "Peace be to you, as well. Elen sila lumenn omentilmo. Cormamin lindua ele lle."

She nods, smiling. "You'll have to forgive me...My elvish is...rusty...May I pass?"

She nodded, "Ah, it is far too much for me to ask that both my people and their language both still live. I will have to speak in this Edan tongue, though it is like fire on my lips. Pray tell, what do you seek below Arcem, and may my judgement be passed then."

Eloen bowed lightly. "Of course, sister. I seek my birthright and namesake, for I am Eloen Ferall, Blade of Oblivion. I seek that blade, the one that they say can rend a mans soul straight to the void."

"The power you seek is great, and I see great sorrow in your heart, Arwen en amin. What purpose dost thou seek it for? What do you hope to accomplish?" She asked sincerely.

((Arwen en amin- my lady))

Eloen looks up at the walls. "I know not, only that I felt it was time to claim what was left to me. I feel the winds blowing, but know not in which direction they shift. I would wish only to be more suitably equipped should they blow ill..."

Aelwynn chuckled, "They have blown ill for four hundred years. Though I have felt the shift in their temper. The gods may yet call upon the Cala'quessir to restore order yet. You bring me hope, arwen en amin."

((Cala'quessir- high elves; arwen en amin- my lady))

She bows, smiling. "Sister, would you join me? You know doubt know this castle far better than I, despite this once being my home..."

"Indeed. I resided in this castle for many centuries. I was once the aratoamin of this place." She looked into the catacombs, "I shall accompany you, sister. Perhaps the aide of this old nim'ohtar will serve you well."

She smiles, bowing. "Might I ask your name, paladin? T'would be a shame for us to not become acquanted. We may not meet another of our kind for many days..."

She bowed, "I am called Aelwynn Lydae, the Last-Standing. I serve Albiorix here, tending to his shrine. And you, arwen en amin?"

Eloen bows. "Forgive me, I may have spoken my name too quickly. I am Eloen Ferall, Blade of Oblivion, Shadowdancer and follower of Morrigan..."

"Eloen, i'narr en gothrim glinuva nuin I'anor." She smiled, "I bit you welcome to Arcem." She descended the stairs into the catacombs.

Eloen smiles, nodding and following. "It's been many a year since I've been to the place of my birth...Have you any knowledge where the object of my search may lie? It would most certainly be defended...A locked vault, perhaps?"

Aelwynn nodded, her hand glowing as she touched the seal, sealing the door and deactivating the traps outside. She held her hand out in front of her, casting a ball of light which rose upward, circling above her head. She unfastened her cloak, revealing a set of fine silver plate that gleamed. She seemed to have a faint glow to her skin, and fear seemed a foreign idea in her presence, "The center chamber. If the blade is indeed yours to claim, then part of this journey will be yours alone."

She nods. "I understand, and expected it. I am glad, however, that you agreed to assist me." Eloen seems to blur as shadows pass over her, her body longing to blend into them.

Aelwynn moved into a tunnel, her orb lighting the way, "Careful, arwen en amin. These catacombs are filled with magical wards. Some of which I cannot repel."

She smiles softly. "I believe that I won't have a problem with that..." She reaches a hand into the darkness and it seems to temporarily vanish, becoming a wisp of black smoke.

OOC: they're very yin-yang. Light and dark?

Aelwynn nods and continues walking, "I underestimated your skill. Lle ume quel."

She smiles softly. "Thank you, A-Arwen e-en amin...Those words....they are at both times foreign and familiar..."
