Dark Nights

Eloen sat back up, suddenly alert. "Who? Where? When can we leave to find them?"

Aelwynn exhaled, "He might have been killed as well. And I'd have to think on where he might have gone to, if he did hide."

Eloen laid back down, the alertness draining from her. "I see...sorry if I seemed...excited."

Aelwynn nodded, "It's understandable. He was called Fenris when I knew him, to answer your question, arwenamin. He was a magus. An expert at combining his sword with magic."

Eloen nodded, still looking up at the rocky cliff that covered them. "I suppose we can always pray...."

Aelwynn nodded, "Many times, that's all one can do."

Eloen fell silent, appearing to fall to sleep. As the fire began to die her body started to blur into the darkness.

Aelwynn stood, setting up the tents from her pack.

Eloen sighed, the sound seeming to reverberate down her wavering form.

After she had the tents pitched, she gently laid a hand on Eloen's shoulder, "Wake, arwenamin."

Eloen slipped away as soon she she felt Aelwynn's hand on her, slipping first into the darkness and then into her tent, not saying a word.

Aelwynn climbed into her tent as well. She cast a spell on the ground before her, a bright circle with strange runes glowing under her palm. She moved her hand, still glowing softly, to her forehead, then bowed her head and prayed.

Eloen stilled her body, slowling her breathing. Before she drifted off, she breathed a simple prayer. "Tell me I'm on the right path..."

Aelwynn's eyes glowed brightly as she prayed. When they faded, she went to sleep.

Eloen stirred the next morning, slowly pulling out of her tent. She pulled some of the bread from her pack, ripping a piece off and eating it.

Aelwynn jumped down from the overhang, "We need to head for the forest."

Eloen looked slightly surprised, but nodded. "A-Alright, arwenamin...whatever you say."

Aelwynn began the chore of buckling into her armor. Her tent and things were already packed, and the firepit was cleaned so well that there was no evidence of one at all.

Eloen, having slept in her armor, finished eating the bread and moved on to packing her own tent up. Soon she had finished the task, and gestured for Aelwynn to lead on once she was finished.

An hour later, she nodded, "Let's be off."

Eloen fell in behind her, looking around the hills, then back at the mountain. She shook her head, returning her attention forward.
