Physical Description: Thin and tall, without any real muscle or fat, Though his skin is fair, his own desire to read in the sunlight on a bright day has caused it to gain a faint golden hue.His red hair is a shaggy mess, though he keeps it cut short to avoid it getting in his eyes. His most striking feature are his blue eyes, which seem to read you when you're the subject of his gaze, yet most often are turned downwards towards some tome or scroll.
External Conflict: He regarded the elves as some of the best writers in the land, and is displeased at their eradication.
External Motivation: The desire to restore elven society and, most importantly to him, art (mainly literature)
Internal Conflict: Whether or not his bookwormish attitude has made him a hermit of sorts.
Internal Motivation: The desire to read everything that could be read.
Education: While he was never given a formal education of sorts, his insatiable desire to read lead to him quickly gaining knowledge, so much so that he could hold his own in a debate with the wisest and most learned of halflings. In his readings he's also picked up a rudimentary skill with magic, and has read several books on the subject of sword-fighting, yet has never handled a blade.
Skills/Talents: Deciphering runes, recording facts, rudimentary magic, basic knowledge of how to fight with a sword.
Weaknesses/Faults: His bookwormish attitude has lead him to be a recluse of sorts, though he still does get o and about.
Fears/Phobias: He's insanely protective of books and scrolls, and fears the loss of knowledge and reason in the world.
Traits: Knowledgeable, a tactician of sorts (he read a few books on Tactics), somewhat arrogant.

History: Merimas desired only a simple life, and most would say that's what he got. He was raised simply by his parents and rarely made a problem. It was when he learned to read that a whole new world opened for him. He found himself easily engrossed by even the simplest of texts, and he was quickly reading from material far beyond what one would expect from a young halfling. He would spent whole days in the library, simply reading from old scrolls and tomes. It was there that he fell in love with the works of the elves, and became deeply resentful that these glorious poets and writers had been wiped (or so he thought) from the world. It was during this time that he began to fervently study all manner of texts, hoping to find some clue as to whether the elves had survived, or at least if their knowledge had. It was during this search that he found information on the library of arcem, and at the age of 43 he made his first journey there. He attempted to open the doors that seperated him from the thing he craved the most, and he has since visited often, trying new things he had learned in what could only be described as a futile attempt to open an unopennable door.
Family: Both his mother and father live in Oldwater, yet due to his lifestyle he has little interaction with them.
