O'er The Sea

Tatsuo stands at the stern of the sleek ship he hired for the journey, his hands folded behind his back. He trills contentedly as he listens to the sound of wind pushing against the ribbed sails of the ship. He pulls his notepad from his satchel and begins writing a bit of poetry.

The seas were unusually calm, and the wind too favorable for any of the sailor's comfort.

Tatsuo senses there is something off with the sailors, he walks to the captain at the helm "Your men seem troubled. Is there something wrong?" He asks knowing it is likely something he would not notice(being from land and all.)

OOC: Speak in past tense please.

The captain nodded, "Usually, leaving Tochigi we face rough weather and the currents are unpredictable. You may laugh, sir, but this is far too easy."

Tatsuo thought over this for a moment before deciding to sit near the cabin and begin sharpening his blade, wary of any danger.

There was a creaking sound from under the ship, and a sudden current that rocked the boat sideways.

Tatsuo stood up, looking around quickly. His training kicks in as he keeps his balance, sword ready.

One of the sailors cried out to alert them that he saw something, but was suddenly pulled beneath the waves as soon as the sound escaped his lips.

Tatsuo rushed to his side to late. He cursed and ran to the mast waiting for the first attack.

Four giant tentacles shot up from the water and wrapped around the ship. The squeezing made the boat creak, and the boards bent under the pressure.

Tatsuo wasted no time staring. He quickly rushed to the first tentacle in sight and swung his katana, the speed made it seem to hum as it moved through the air towards the thick tentacle.

The blade wedged into the creature's blubber, but got stuck in the flesh. The tentacles started to recoil, pulling the blade with it.

Tatsuo hung onto the blade, gasping as he was whipped about crazily.

The blade broke free about ten feet above the ship's deck.

Tatsuo dropped down, blade in hand. He kicks off of the banister and tries to cut through the remaining tentacle.

As his blade wedged into the creature's tentacle, another one swung behind him, trying to sweep his feet out from under him.

Tatsuo quickly pulled his blade from the tentacle and swiped at the one near his feet.

The blade didn't slow it down, and as he didn't jump out of the way, it slammed into his legs, knocking him over.

Tatsuo managed to catch himself, landing in a kneeling position. He took his blade up once again and began circling towards the writhing limb.

The creature wrapped it's giant tentacles around the ship once more, wrenching it to the side. Sailors fell from the edge screaming into the water below. A large open pit of teeth awaited them below.

Tatsuo spotted the tentacle he had cut halfway through at the beginning of the attack. He leapt across the deck, avoiding the wildly swinging tentacles as best as he can. When he reaches it he takes his katana in both hands and swings as hard as he can hoping to sever the tentacle completely.

The creature shrieked, letting to of the ship as it rocked back into place, the severed tentacle flopped on the deck.

Tatsuo remains serious as the sailors cheer "I doubt we have much time before it returns captain. I suggest we make haste."

The captain nodded, commanding the remaining sailors to man the ship as they sailed forward at full speed.

He nods and sheathes his sword. He never wears it at his hip, instead he prefers carrying it in its sheath so he is ready to draw at any moment. He approaches the tentacle which still writhes around on deck. His normally calm face let's out a quick grin [hikaru would appreciate this...] he draws a short knife from his belt and begins chopping it into tiny bits.
